DECISION
ON THE REORGANIZATION OF THE UNITS DIRECTLY ATTACHED TO THE MINISTRY OF CULTURE AND INFORMATION
THE PRIME MINISTER
Pursuant to the Law on Organization of the Government on the 30th of September, 1992;
Pursuant to Decree No.81-CP on the 8th of November, 1993 of the Government on the functions, tasks, powers and organization of the apparatus of the Ministry of Culture and Information;
At the proposals of the Minister of Culture and Information, and the Minister-Chairman of the Government Commission on Organization and Personnel,
DECIDES:
Article 1.- To reorganize the following units to help the Minister of Culture and Information implement his function of State management:
1. To set up the Copyright Department on the basis of reorganizing the Copyright Protection Office.
2. To set up the Department of Preservation of Museums on the basis of reorganizing the Protection of Museums Division.
3. To establish the Culture and Information Legislation Department.
Article 2.- To reorganize the following administrative units directly attached to the Ministry of Culture and Information:
a/ Research institutes:
1. The Institute of Vietnamese Culture and Artist (including the Sub-Institute in Ho Chi Minh City).
2. The Institute of Cinematographic Art and Archives.
3. The Institute of Movies and Video Techniques.
4. The Center for Design and Restoration of Relics.
b/ Universities and colleges:
1. The Hanoi University of Culture (including the Nguyen Du Writers' School and the Cultural Institute).
2. The Hanoi University of Arts (including the Institute of Arts).
3. The Hanoi Conservatory.
4. The Hanoi Drama and Cinematography College (including the Drama Institute and the Co Loa Cinematography High School).
5. To establish the Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture and Arts on the basis of reorganizing the culture and arts schools in Ho Chi Minh City, including:
- The Ho Chi Minh City University of Arts,
- The Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory,
- The Ho Chi Minh City College of Culture,
- The Ho Chi Minh City College of Drama and Cinematography,
- The Dong Nai School of Decorative Arts,
- The Ho Chi Minh City High School of Dance.
6. The Vietnam High School of Dance.
7. The Vietnam High School of Circus.
8. The Viet Bac High School of Culture and Arts.
9. The Tay Bac High School of Culture and Arts.
10. The Refresher School for Managerial Workers.
11. The High School of Printing Technique.
c/ Museums and libraries:
1. The Ho Chi Minh Museum
2. The Museum of History
3. The Museum of Revolution
4. The Museum of Arts
5. The Museum of Vietnam Ethnic Cultures
6. The National Library
d/ The press:
1. The Culture newspaper
2. The Vietnam Cinematography newspaper
3. The Culture and Art Research magazine
4. The Panorama, Events and Public Opinions magazine
e/ The units attached to the Performing Arts Department:
1. The Central Classical Opera Theater.
2. The Vietnam Song, Dance and Music Theater.
3. The Vietnam Ballet and Opera Theater.
4. The Vietnam Drama Theater.
5. The Youth Theater.
6. The Vietnam Popular Opera Theater.
7. The Central Reformed Opera Theater.
8. The Central Puppetry Theater.
9. The Vietnam Circus Union.
10. The Vietnam Symphony Orchestra.
11. The Central Song, Dance and Light Music Ensemble.
12. The Viet Bac Folk Song and Dance Ensemble.
f/ Administration units:
1. The Center for Cultural and Artistic Exhibitions.
2. The Center for International Press and Communication Cooperation.
3. The Center for Professional Guidance of the Cultural House.
4. Artistic Creation Center.
The tasks and organization of the units mentioned in Articles 1 and 2 of this Decision shall be stipulated by the Minister of Culture and Information.
Article 3.- This Decision takes effect from the date of its issue. All regulations in the previous documents that are contrary to this Decision shall be annulled. The Minister of Culture and Information, the Ministers, the Heads of the ministerial-level agencies, the Heads of the agencies attached to the Government, the Presidents of the People's Committees of cities and provinces directly under the Central Government are responsible for the implementation of this Decision.
