RESOLUTION
RATIFYING THE "AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE OF AND THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF ON DEMARCATION OF , EXCLUSIVE ECONOMIC ZONES AND CONTINENTAL SHELVES OF THE TWO COUNTRIES IN THE "

Pursuant to Article 84 of the 1992 Constitution of the
Socialist Republic of Vietnam, which was amended and supplemented under
Resolution No. 51/2001/NQ-QH10 bổ sung điều của Hiến pháp nước cộng hoà xã hội chủ nghĩa Việt Nam năm 1992">51/2001/QH10 of December 25, 2001 of the Xth National Assembly,
the 10th session;
At the proposal of the State President in Report No. 01 TTr/CTN of May 12, 2004
on ratifying the "Agreement between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and
the People's Republic of China on demarcation of territorial seas, exclusive
economic zones and continental shelves of the two countries in the Tonkin
Gulf";
After considering the Government's report, Evaluation Report No. 773/UBDN of
May 27, 2004 of the National Assembly's Committee for External Affairs, and
comments of the National Assembly deputies,
RESOLVES:
1. To ratify the "Agreement between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the People's Republic of China on demarcation of territorial seas, exclusive economic zones and continental shelves of the two countries in the Tonkin Gulf".
2. The Socialist Republic of Vietnam asserts its determination to maintain, together with the People's Republic of China, the demarcated boundaries in the Tonkin Gulf for a long term, contributing to preserving and developing the traditional friendship and neighborly relationship between the two countries on the basis of respecting each other's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, .
3. After the State President signs the Order promulgating the National Assembly's Resolution, the Government shall carry out the external procedures for the ratification of the Agreement.
4. To assign the Government to build the overall program on implementation of the "Agreement between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the People's Republic of China on demarcation of territorial seas, exclusive economic zones and continental shelves of the two countries in the Tonkin Gulf" and, at the same time draw up annual specific plans for implementation of the Agreement.
5. The Government shall direct the concerned agencies in well performing the work of information and propagation so that the entire population can clearly realize the achieved results, thus creating the unity in people's awareness of the important significance of the Agreement.
This Resolution was passed on June 15, 2004 by the XIth National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at its 5th session.
