DECISION

ON THE APPOINTMENT OR RELIEF FROM OFFICE OF A NUMBER OF MEMBERS OF THE GOVERNMENT

THE PRESIDENT OF THE SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM

Pursuant to Articles 101, 103 and 106 of the 1992 Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam;
Pursuant to Article 74 of the Law on the Organization of the National Assembly;
Pursuant to Article 3 of the Law on the Organization of the Government;
Proceeding from the Resolution adopted on October 21, 1995 by the IXth National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at its 8th Session ratifying the proposal of the Prime Minister on the appointment and relief from office of a number of members of the Government on the list of nominees;

DECIDES:

Article 1.- To appoint or relieve from office a number of members of the Government:

1. Mr. Nguyen Cong Tan is relieved of his post of Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry so as to hold the post of Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

2. Mr. Nguyen Canh Dinh is relieved of his post of Minister of Water Resources so as to hold the post of Minister-Chairman of the Vietnam Mekong River Committee and at the same time the post of Chairman of the Central Steering Committee for Prevention and Fight against Floods and Storms.

3. Mr. Nguyen Quang Ha is relieved of his post of Minister of Forestry.

4. Mr. Dang Vu Chu is relieved of his post of Minister of Light Industry so as to hold the post of Minister of Industry.

5. Mr. Tran Lum is relieved of his post of Minister of Heavy Industry.

6. Mr. Thai Phung Ne is relieved of his post of Minister of Energy.

7. Mr. Do Quoc Sam is relieved of his post of Minister-Chairman of the State Planning Committee so as to hold the post of Minister of Planning and Investment.

8. Mr. Dau Ngoc Xuan is relieved of his post of Minister-Chairman of the State Committee for Cooperation and Investment so as to hold the post of Minister-Chairman of the State Council for Evaluation of Investment Projects.

9. Mr. Nguyen Ky Cam is relieved of his post of State Inspector-General so as to hold the post of Minister-Standing member of the Steering Committee for Fighting against Corruption and Smuggling.

10. Mr. Ta Huu Thanh is nominated to the post of State Inspector-General.

11. Mr. Nguyen Trong Nhan is relieved of his post of Minister of Health.

12. Mr. Do Nguyen Phuong is nominated to the post of Minister of Health.

Article 2.- The Prime Minister, the members of the Government who are appointed or relieved from office as mentioned in Article 1, and the Director of the Office of the President shall have to implement this Decision.
