To: Presidents of People's Committees of centrally-affiliated cities and provinces
During temporary closure of schools to serve prevention and control of Covid-19, the Ministry of Education and Training has been monitoring the situation of epidemic, giving instructions to local authorities and educational establishments to strictly implement the measures for epidemic prevention and control under the guidance of the Ministry of Health and specialized agencies. Schools and classrooms have been the sanitized; students have been given guidance on prevention and control of the epidemic disease; teachers have been trained in prevention and control of the epidemic disease to instruct students when they go back to schools. In consideration of the current epidemic situation, the Ministry of Education and Training hereby recommends that Presidents of People's Committees of provinces and central-affiliated cities consider reopening preschools, primary schools, secondary schools and continuing education schools from March 02, 2020; Provincial Departments of Education and Training shall instruct schools to follow guidance on epidemic prevention and infection control in school of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and Training .
The Ministry of Education and Training adjusts the time frame for the school year 2019 - 2020 as follows:
- Schools shall be reopened on March 02, 2020.
- The school year will end before June 30, 2020.
- The National High School Graduation Examination will be held during the period from July 23 to July 26, 2020.
On the basis of the aforesaid time frame, local authorities shall proactively implement their education plan for the academic year of 2019-2020 according to their Covid-19 response plan. Local authorities that decide to reopen school after March 02, 2020 shall have plans to organize make-up classes to meet the schedule for school year end and the National High School Graduation Examination on the basis of the adjusted time frame.
