DECISION

CONTINUING IMPORTING COMMODITIES POSING HIGH RISK OF CARRYING GROUNDNUT BRUCHID (CARYEDON SERRATUS) FROM INDIA

MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT

Pursuant to the Government’s Decree No.15/2017/ND-CP dated February 17, 2017 defining the Functions, Tasks, Powers and Organizational Structure of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development;

Pursuant to the Government’s Decree No. 116/2014/ND-CP dated December 04, 2014 elaborating certain articles of the Law on Plant Protection and Quarantine;

At the request of Director of Plant Protection Department,

HEREBY DECIDES:

Article 1. This is to grant permission to continue importing peanuts (Arachis hypogaea), Cassia tora seeds (Cassia spp.), cocoa beans (Theobroma cacao), beans (Phaseolus spp.) and tamarind (Tamarindus indica) from India.

Article 2. Duties of Plant Protection Department:

Request the plant quarantine agencies of India to implement plant quarantine measures to thoroughly prevent the spread of quarantine pests through commodities exported into Vietnam;

Intensify phytosanitary inspections of the foregoing agricultural products imported from India in order to prevent the invasion of quarantine pests into Vietnam.

Article 3. This Decision comes into force as from the date on which it is signed.

Article 4. Chief of the Ministry's Office, Director of the Plant Protection Department, heads of relevant agencies and units shall be responsible for implementing this Decision./.
